Goal #1: Improve Family Functioning

Children and youth enrolled in Tapestry have demonstrated significant improvement in their functioning as well as a reduction in problem severity.  Tapestry uses a tool called the Ohio Scales to measure changes in problem severity and functioning.

The portion of the Ohio Scales tool that measures the severity of the problem a child is facing asks questions to determine the following:
  • How frequently does the child argue with others or fight?
  • How much does the child experience anger, anxiety, sadness or feelings of uselessness?
  • How often does the child skip school?
  • How often does the child break rules?
  • Any other problem indicator

The portion of the Ohio Scales tool that measures a child’s functioning asks questions to determine the following:
  • How much trouble is a child having getting along with family and friend?
  • How is the child doing caring for their health needs?
  • How is the child doing controlling their emotions?
  • How is the child doing learning skills, completing tasks, and paying attention?
  • How is the child doing accepting responsibility?
  • Any other indicators?
